The latest and greatest - The satellite, troop and mine.

No in-game pic, but maybe when I get the last 2 done.

By the way, does anyone use the wings files? Just wondering.

Are you saying that the mines/weapon platforms / satellites are not anything close to canon? Should the satellite be a giant imperial symbol instead?

I changed the original mine to even more generic (I think) in the interest of polygon saving on the off chance that they ever get shown as the model. The pneumatic tube canister was coming up in the 300+ range for poly's.

Just wanted to say school has kicked my tail this past week - I have not forgotten this project, and have even looked at it from time to time. I'll try for the last 2 models by next weekend at the latest.

remember as well... SE4 and 5 work on the premis that each ship size is an evolution from smaller sizes. we see this with Atrocities amazing Imperial set. This Imperial set of his is NOT in agreement with SW-Cannon. There are no dreadnought hulls like were in the Katana fleet, no Nebulon B Frigates, no Lancer Frigates, nothing like that. What Atrocities Imperial shipset DOES do though, is show an evolution of design from Republic Stardestroyers, up to the Victory I Class Stardestroyers, the the II's, then the Imperiator I and II stardestroyers.... but I forget if he went larger than those. BUT he also made all the ships unique enough, it should have, by rights used a brand new flag and racial pic, just because frankly, it may have the imperial feel, but it DEFINATELY isnt Star Wars anymore. I think, when it comes to this shipset, we need an imperial mindset, but we need to seperate it from the star-wars mindset.

Though.. a shipset of mon calamari cruisers... all bulbous and natural creature-looking type ships.. would be cool.

I do not know if any armed satellites exist in the SW universe, but what I do know is that Atrocities re-used that satellite design a few times, although usually changing the texture and colouration each time. Just looks like sudden lack of creativity struck him. Razz

Satellites, as we know them, do not exist in the star wars universe. They have something called "skyhooks", which to my knowledge, are bases at the end of a long space elevator tether connected to the planet. These skyhooks were usualy armed to such a degree, that anything smaller than a full mon calamari cruiser or star destroyer, would be slaughtered if they attacked, and if a planet was capable of supporting a single one of these, they could support at least a dozen or more.

Remember, the city of Courscant wasnt just the entire planet, but it extended by these skyhooks literaly into orbit.

The most famous skyhook belonged to Prince Xixor of the Black Sun crime syndicate, as written about in the Shadows of the Empire novel, quite a lovely book, and it really helps set the scene for Episode 6.

Did I ever send you those images you wanted? If I didn't please let me know. I hope that you are still working on modeling an Imperial set for SEV.

I do believe I am nearly done with the set - only one more model for basic, no?

I was quite frustrated when my new router would not connect to Steam, thus cutting me off from Space Empires. (no connection = ok. full connection = ok. no connection only to steam = no games... and I am a computer guy, I tried almost everything.)

I have recently gotten requests to make / modify models to make another version of both rebel & imperial shipsets; I will finish the WP model but will likely not mess with firing points & engine glows. I know this will lessen the impact of the shipset, and it will be cool if someone was able to pull this last bit through.

Anyways, I will work out the WP now, so hope for something in a couple of hours.

Ok, every model is here, and tested to at least a small degree. I also set up pics of the ground troops; it seems ground combat uses the models for the ground troops. In other words, fighters are pictures in space but 3D on the ground.

I did add the drone. I also corrected the incorrect pic for space drone display - You won't have tanks flying anymore.

All the .wings models I made while creating this set are here, including a few parts. Of course, the .x files are with the empire.

Quick note: one of the game files is not allowing inventory slots to show up on ships (probably config slots). This only happens on new games; that is why I did not catch it in my test save game. I am trying to figure out what is going on.

I know, I took forever to fix this. The bug is fixed and the game checked.

It wasn't the inv_config slots that was the problem - something with one of the other AI files was bugging the inventory out.
I think it happened on an upgrade; I finally just replaced all the files & copied over what game text I changed. I guess I'll keep a note to just replace files next time.

Again, the engine glows are not properly located, but all the models & images are there. If someone wants to come up with a list of ship names, we can add that too. I am perfectly willing to take work donations to do the final touches (like engine glows or ship names) faster.

I really have to take a look at all the other shipsets peopel have made & see if there is a good crystalline one out there, or maybe an energy one. Maybe I'll just have to get to work on another set!

I screwed up again - the frigate was a sphere with a transparent sphere instead of the real frigate. Here's the fix.

Let me know if I have any more booboos Smile

Wait, you expect me to texture it? I used colors to do that - I do not expect to put "fancy pseudo-techno" onto it. I think it would be hard to see anyways.

EDIT: I need to darken the WP a bit, but that's it.

Hmm, then I don't remember well that you said you texturized them. Sorry!

So...Albi...
Now that you are nearing completion on the ygrath, will you be continuing work with this shipset?
*fingers crossed*

What would you like? I can put the engines in their places. I could make further models, I guess, but some of them just won't show up right (like the TIE Fighter in space) and I'd have to figure out how to make the others used. Not that I expect this to be hard.

Or are you looking for a mode detailed version? Every set has infinite possibilities, and the fact that I got this one working was good enough for me.

Oh sorry...
I thought you were making a shipset.
I would like to see an imperial shipset at some point, but I'm sure someone will get around to it.

(I just wanted to have a deathstar baseship surrounded by Executor Class dreadnaugts to carry me into battle...

If you are just happy with the ship you made then that is perfectly fine.

I finished a basic imperial shipset. Here - I'll post it again.

The engine lighting is not in the right place, but otherwise it should be perfectly functional. I think I even included the background.
