SE5 has the Religious trait which gives you a variety of vaguely religious-themed facilities and such. I was thinking it would be more interesting, though, to flesh out religion in CCmod to be sort of like the culture system.

Unlike culture, though, religion wouldn't "flip" the ownership of planets. Instead, religion would depend on which type of religious facilities are built on a planet - these facilities would spread their religion, and provide happiness so long as their religion is the dominant religion on the planet. (They would also provide unhappiness if a different religion is dominant, until they are able to convert the population!)

What I mean by the different religions is that each religious facility would have an associated religion. (Maybe merge the War and Death shrines as they're so similar in theme?) Also, the racial trait would be split into several cheaper traits, one for each religion. Maybe each trait could get a few more things, like components and such, to make it more interesting? E.g. the nature religion could get terraforming components that they can place on ships to terraform worlds from orbit...

Also maybe in addition to the passive benefits from religious facilities, we could have some more... active... divine intervention! Say, special random events that tend to occur in places where religious conflicts are taking place! Oh no, our colony got attacked by Ares, since we're spreading the nature religion in the territory of the war religion! Very Happy

That's no space station - it's a spreadsheet!

Hi sorry for the delay been busy this week. Any ways I've been thinking about overhauling religion since versions 08, but other concepts kept showing up I wanted included first. It's one of the reasons I started on troops first because I had plan to use the single ton units with religion. I had similar ideas on the concept as you with events, cultural, and god/ demi gods units. I actually include some base parts of what I wanted in 09 with the bonus event based on pop and exp bonus for religious traits. I'll look around and post the rest of the concept so you can look at it. I believe I had 4-5 god. Anyways got to go, post more later.
