Hi,

I built an artificial sphere world around my star. But what's next?

I don't see population there, nor a construction queue. So, how to colonize? I built a colonizer for water worlds, and get only "Unable to colonize ice" in return when i try to colonize the sphere world.

Water worlds? What mod are you playing? There are no "water" type worlds in any mod that I know of...

That's no space station - it's a spreadsheet!

Oh, yes, there are. It's one of the mods I downloaded here, on this website.

Meanwhile, I also solved the problem with the colonization. My water-based race couldn't colonize the sphere world since that sphere was icy. I just assumed my water race would build a sphere world like a giant water world. Well, now it is a giant water world. I transformed the sphere world.

Let's have a nice swim!

When you create planets; you get a random type. I imagine shereworlds work the same way.

Perhaps that mod never changed the planet type from ice to waterfor planet/sphere world creation.?

Every ring/sphereworld I've ever created has been rock, but I always play rock-dwellers. I thought I read somewhere that ring/sphereworlds are the same type as your homeworld but I'm not 100% certain of that.

Yes, the created worlds will always be the same as your native homeworld type.

Nope, they aren't the same, based on my experience. But maybe the reason is, that I use a mod which adds water planets to the game. Maybe the mod never touched the sphere world data files and so they just keep on of the three regular planet models.

In my current game, I am playing a life form which has a water planet as home. But the sphere world constructed was an ice world. Maybe just a small left-out of the mod...

Shrike is correct. The constructed worlds are your home type and atmosphere.
The mod you are playing must not have added the water type to spheres (and I assume rings).

Creating a planet using the Gravity Sphere will create a random type and atmosphere. Some players will build a Tectonic Bomb ship to go with it, and then blowup the planet and recreate until they get one they want.

Using Stock, with some minor modifications of my own, and the sphereworlds I have created have literally always been random.

I checked, double checked, and triple checked my home type in a max-tech game. Rock Hydrogen, confirmed. First sphere I got was Ice, second was Gas.

Then again, nobody uses Stock but me, so, there you have it.
