I've got a starmap question for SE4 that's driving me nuts. Mad

I tried to use a new starmap for my mod, and it didn't take.

On a whim, I removed to STOCK starmap from the Stock folders, REPLACED it with my new one, and started a game.

And it was the ORIGINAL starmap still, despite NOT being named the same or even still in ANY SE4 folders anywhere! Shocked

Is this a hard-coded thing, or am I missing something?

Are you sure you replaced the right one? There are three files: one in 1024x768 folder, one in 800x600 folder, and one mini 128x128 version. The last one is used in system properties windows or something, while the first two are used as the system map background, depending on screen resolution.

Thought of that too, and replaced ALL THREE accordingly, while saving them elsewhere.

Restarted even, just in case it was a "stuck-on-stupid" Vista memory thing.

Still shows the stock starmap

Okay - VERY weird. I replaced ALL of them, including the two in the Screens folder, and it now show the NEW map.

I wasn't aware it would reference the map in Screens. Confused

Weird.. I've never replaced the Starmap file in the Game\Screens folder. Wasn't even aware it existed!

Really?

I'd seen it there before, but never thought much about it. Had no idea it was referenced that way.

Well this is WEIRD! I now see it in SIX places! The pic/system sets are there, but you also have another 3 sets in Pic/Game/Screens!?
Duplication, or did I do something weird in my sleep... Laughing

Edit: Phew, it wasn't me. Yes you have to replace all six of them! Works perfectly after that!

The starmap in FQM/Adamant loads up perfectly fine without replacing anything in the game\screens folder..
