So, apparently I do remember my password here. Hi. I've been a player of SE4 since... uh... 2002? 2003? Fuck if I can remember; somewhere around there. I played SE5 when it came out and a couple of times since, and mostly just gone back to SE4. I took the Eclipse Mod and customized the hell out of it and it became basically the only way I ever play SE4 anymore.
Years ago, I decided that I wanted to make a clone of SE4 so that I didn't have to deal with the silly bugs and limitations of SE4, but could still play the game I loved so much. I actually got as far as parsing the data files, but it doesn't look like you're having any trouble with that yourselves.
I happened to be thinking to myself, "Hmm, I wonder if SE4 ever went open-source or something like that" and instead I found this. This is... incredible. I'm downloading the latest release now. I'm also checking out the source code. Is there a list of features that are currently incomplete anywhere? Bugs that need fixed? Things that need to be implemented before games can be played to completion? If not, I guess I'll just start reading the source and see what's going on.
The mere fact that this exists is awesome; thank you to everybody involved for your efforts. Back to top
