Ship models. That's what we really need at this point. Can you create/find any SW ship models that are either already in Xfile format or can be converted to Xfiles?

converting isn't the hard part, i can do that, it's finding meshes of low poly counts to work on programs i run, or making them with a low poly count.

That's a very good question. GML has been handling the graphic aspects of the mod. I think he's found out some stuff. Fyron and Suicide Junkie would probably be the best sources for info. I imagine that they are watching us...

And like a conjuration spell, now that I've invoked their names, they SHALL APPEAR!!!!

the problem is the major ships, I took a look around some of the meshes to get a rough idea and it's not pretty.

First most low poly meshes atm that i've found amount to a Lambda shuttle and a drop ship transport. Both can probably be added, converting them is easy, but these guides for making them work in SF..well i may as well learn chinese and start from there.

The problem is the capital ships, ISD's, Mon Clamari's etc people make them and stick loads of detail "Hey look my ISD is better than yours because i put on 7000 more laser cannons" ..you get the picture, finding a low poly count ISD would be extremely good, I'd go and hassle atrocities but even his ISD is probably to high as well.

Well, depending on how detailed you need it, you could just make a 30 poly wedge.
With a good texture to make the launch bays and edgings it should be an adequate stand-in until you can get a nice 500 poly one.

How many polys do the ships from XWA have? You could probably convert those for use in the mod.

Would the Star Trek Armada Files work here (.sod) I'm not sure what poly they all are, but you can easily convert them into .x using Milkshape and the right plugins. You might have to re-do textures for the game, but it might look pretty good. I'll try to take a look at them when I have the time, but if they work, you can try some of them.

Yeah the awesome ST vs SW mod that was released back in the day. Man, I wish Armada would run on my comp, it doesn't like WinXP or Radeon 9800s or something.

Armada does work on XP, though not as stably as Armada 2. You just need to set it into 98 compatability. Pity Armada 2 doesn't have a SW mod, but it got crashed.

On topic: So will those .sod files work for SF? Because if they do, I'm not sure what models you have now but I'm sure there's a few that might help you out.

Well actually it *does* technically work, it's just really really really really really slow. And anyways, Starfury uses the .x format, so they would have to be converted for use in the mod. They would work perfectly though, the big cap ships are all under 1000 polys.

Ok i am rather new at this but here go's.
there was an update to Star trek vs Star wars for Star trek armada II.
It was called Star wars fleet command Smile
If you get the shareware version of LithUnwrap you can us it to bring over
the Sod.files in Star trek Armada, I have played around with it and it will convert the Sod.files to X.files but i am not much into programing.
the tc for Star trek is still out there you would have to go and look for it in the Armada sites like armada fleet command or armada universe

Wedge, I tried using LithUnwrap Shareware for a similar purpose already, but it's a bit unstable with the .sod files. Try using Milkshape with the right plugins. That aught to work (it does for me).
