Is there any way to stop the possibility of trading techs in game by technology treaties. I unchecked that option in new game setup where it says "Players can give / trade technology." but in my treaties if the AI sends me a treaty with trade techologies as part of the treaty I will still get all his techs.
I'm really wanting to be able to just play games where I'm only one researching my techs so I don't get a huge loard of techs all of a sudden in my hard / high bonus to AI player games.
I know I can modify the treaty but and resend it but thats not a good fix cause they won't accept the same treaty they sent me sometimes when I change things.
Also is there a way to disallow any use of Alliances so the AI can't use them. I use the Balance Mod 1.20 and if I enter into alliances or create one I get crash to desktop's (Out of Range) errors trying to send message to alliance and requesting certain things like military assistance.
As soon as I click the dial it crashes to desktop and even starting a new game without exiting game first it put me in same alliance from the start of game. Really wierd bugs.
Not sure if there are any problems with AI's using alliances with each other but my current game I've noticed a couple alliances between the AI's.
Any way to disable alliances option altogether?

I don't know of any way to stop tech sharing via treaty. Theoretically you could script the AI so it would not offer or accept a tech sharing treaty.
Alliances are an unimplemented feature. They don't work right and shouldn't be used.
BM 1.20 is an Alpha version, so there may be bugs. BM 1.19j is the latest stable version.

I was just concerned that if the AI's are using alliances it would make my game crash at some point or become unplayable. Since in my current game there are 4 of them using what seems to be Alliance treaties. Not sure if that means they are in an official Alliance as human players create.

I doubt that's a problem. There is a treaty or two with "alliance" in the title. Titles are strictly superficial. An actual alliance alliance will alter the flags of all member empires - that's one way to tell.

Dvoongar is correct. What you are seeing is just regular AI treaties with the term "alliance" in them.

Although you can disable direct technology trades, unfortunately there is no way to restrict the technology trade element. I wish it would have been implemented as sharing technology points rather than tech levels.

Hi, first post here I'd like to do a slight modification for Raapys's DarkUI mod, and if anyone would be interested, to up it somewhere and share it here. What is the policy here? Do I need to ask the creator's permission, or just mentioning him as the original author is enough?

You don't need to contact the original creator, but it can't hurt to try to contact him/her first. Most mod authors probably don't mind if you use their mods as a base for your own.

You should make a good faith effort to contact the mod author first.

Also, attribution where attribution is due. Borrowing work is one thing, labeling it as yours is another.

Thanks for the replies guys. I will try to contact him, but unless he has other accounts (there are multiple with the same nick all over the net, but I don't think that's the same person) this may prove futile, as his last activity on shrapnel boards was in 2011.
