One of the biggest problems with SEV's combat system is vertical stacking, particularly when trying to capture a colony with a large fleet. The troop ships stack and then cannot get close enough to drop troops, and so they sit there high above the planet waiting to be destroyed.

It seems that shrinking the size of ship models would reduce this problem, but is there an easy way to accomplish this other than to manually reduce the size of every ship in a modeling program? If so, would it apply to custom shipsets or only ones included with the mod?

Thank you!

VehicleSize.txt has a "Max Model Radius" field which you can use to shrink (but not grow) any oddly sized models.

Hmm that might work but it would mean that starbases and large ships wouldn't look much bigger than medium ships. I wonder if it's worth the tradeoff.

It's set per hull size.

Oh excellent, I'll definitely shrink all the ships by a large amount and increase the default zoom. Other than the wonky hard-coded capture pods and troop ships that may or may not be in the mood to drop troops, vertical stacking is the unfixable problem that drives me absolutely bonkers. I look forward to porting DJAS over to Freee one day and being rid of these issues forever!
