Atrocities has stated that we can alter and update the hes startrek mod. http://www.spaceempires.net/ftopicp-59731.html#59731
Therefor i declare this the new OSM (Open source Startrek Mod). That way ppl can start there own project from his leavings.

First things first.. what needs to be done and what do we want to do?


-Fix Remote mining (Human only)
-Fix maintenance on components.
-Fix pirate Armor tech tree
-Fix Structural Integrity Field to use "XYZ ship construction"
-Add New races
-Replace some Images

At the moment I do not allow anyone to modify the Soundaddon for the STM...If you try to add it direct in to the mod please ask!

Please send me copies of data files that have been changed. I would like to update the mod files with some of the updates I did but never released.

Also please list any changes you make in order to keep a complete list of changes made.

OK, Schattenkanzler - let me clarify for you WHY I do not need your permission, so we can move on with the subject of this thread :

1) - Based on MY OWN large collection of sound files I use for various games I have a number of Star Trek sounds that, when assembled, form an excellent set of sounds suitable for inclusion in any ST related mod.

2) - Said collection of sounds IS NOT based on anything YOU assembled, but rather a number of previously existing Star Trek materials and sources in MY possession. As such it is no doubt assembled in the same manner you put yours together (from a variety of sources), but it is NOT "based on 'your' work" and thus does NOT require YOUR permission.

3) Regardless of the fuss you're bent on making over this I will make this set available for whomever has an interest in using it, asking no more than a simple credit for having assembled the sounds.

I have some Questions for yous.

1) Should we expand the "Structural Integrity Field" out to a races max tech? this would have feds with 10 levels and 8472 with 7 levels.

2) Should fighters come after level 3 of shuttles? in lore fighters are an advanced form of shuttles that do not have the capacity for warp.

3) Should we give fighters engines from carrier battles?

4) Should all hulls have a shuttle bay? this would remove the shuttle bay from the components giving room for carrier battles style fighter bays.

5) should we remove or compile "Expansion Project A & B"?

6) Should armor be leaky? we have semi-leaky shields now so why do we get solid armor?

7) should intel be leaky? This is done by removing the counter intel and adding sabotage intel. you will need to actively block intel attacks (or set repeat).

I believe fighters should come after shuttles. In turn hanger bays(renaming to fighter bays) comes after fighters. and finally carriers after this.
This, in my view, is a progression of technology thought.

Personal opinion:

1) Seems reasonable to me

2) Also seems reasonable

3) I never liked this, and the lack of system movement is inconsistent with small craft in Star Trek as well.

4) Makes sense, since nearly every mid- to large-sized ship in ST has shuttle bays.

5) Not sure HOW this works

6) Seems consistent with ST

7) Not too fond of this idea, personally

Ok - Here's the sound files for Star Trek I'd put together for my copy of the STM.

Given that this thread is intended for a possible mod update and will likely result in changed weapons data, I pulled the Component file i usually use out so these can be incorporated into any new weapon reworks.

Also included are some Button and Cloaking sounds.

I have adapted/created many new federation ships based on a variety of ships found through the ages...designed for the TNG era..so this is a mix of "older" ships such as the Churchill, Andor, Abbe and Hornet classes one would be "phaseing out" while other such as the Wallace, Alita, etc would be newer models /bases being phased in. I even have the remler array. Currently there are about 230 or so...with data sets.

These were for "in house" use however so Im not sure what Id have to do about tracking down some of the sourses.

How about breaking the ship hulls up into generations, so you would start with ships that look like ST:E ships, and as you research more ship construction, you get ships that look like TOS, TNG, DS9, ST:V, etc.

Hmm, might want to look to the DJAS Mod for inspiration then - there are nine ship hulls - a light, medium, and heavy hull for each of three eras of technology!

That's no space station - it's a spreadsheet!
