Gentlemen,

Southeastern logistics officials were shocked this month when our officials attempted to access proprietory storage facilities we had earmarked for the DCI loan. To their, and our, shock we had been barred from the premisis. To add insult to injury, our officials were not even given an appropriate rational for this forclosure, as such out remaining overstressed facilities have seen significant spoilage in both our organics and radioactives stockpiles.

Southeastern hereby demand to the congregation that we recieve a rational for this arbitrary forclosure, and more importently that we are giving a timetable regarding the inevitable further forclosures. what quantity of proprietory storage will a corporation be entitled to next month? and the month after?

Natanial Igbow, CEO of Southeastern Logistics

Did you have a contract to borrow storage facilities, or merely to get a loan of materials?

NGOs, as you should have been made aware, utilize a shared pool of storage space which comes from both federal worlds and a modest tax on storage space.
Such storage fluctuates month to month as facilities are built and scrapped around the empire, and although it does generally go up, like the stock market, there is no guarantee of that.

There is a system in place for automatic spoilage insurance and overdraft protection, in which excess resources are temporarily transferred to or from another account, but I was not made aware of any such agreement in order to enter it into the system.

There are reasonable ways to resolve the problem, but its best to get all the info before deciding which way to go.

I think it is quite clear that the contract was a loan of resources, not a loan of resource & storage capacity, otherwise it would not have referenced DCI spoilage. It is also consistent with the financial strategy of the past several months - extending 'virtual' storage capacity by opening storage accounts with other organisations, or by offering low-nil interest loans.

Perhaps it should also be pointed out that this spoilage is just as bad for me, as it is 'my' resources that have been lost.

A shame really - if I had found that sufficient storage capacity was not on hand, then I would not have transferred the resources, as current internal storage capacity is still below 50%.

Perhaps a spoilage insurance plan in the amount of the loan would be appropriate in that case.
Any excess would then get repaid temporarily.

I'll still be abler to replay the loan, I'll just be a bit more of a scramble. And storage capacity *was* at hand, only, you know, it wandered off.

I would be interested in insurance, otherwise I will probably roll some of my present resources into science Infanite storage temporarily...

Instead of paying for insurance, why not earn interest with a deposit account?

Ok, for this next turn, I've put in a spoilage correction, and then shifted that excess amount to DCI, with it set to return to SEL next game month.
You will have next week to figure out what to do with the excess funds, whether that is to pay it back early, or loan it out to a third party, or spend it... whatever works Smile

No problem. A good IC rant always helps the cause Smile

Be sure to get that cash moving quickly tho. It'll all be flowing back in this turn.

What is this talk of IC? It seems to be an attempt to distract major issue, which is a loss of resources. Now, I can see this was a communication mistake, but I hope this will not happen again - once is an annoyance enough.

(OOC: I'm not annoyed - it's not as I don't have resources, I've been building up stocks as much as is practical. Also, it's not really big mistake, and we all make mistakes, especially when starting out)

Looks like the storage crunch has mostly passed with new mineral & org facilities coming online along with a bunch of infrastructure facilities.
Rads are still redlined, but the crisis should be over for now.
