|
|
I have never played a game to completion. My current game started as a Team AI (8 on 1).
I have researched everything (yes, EVERYTHING), built a ringworld and a sphereworld (just to see what they look like), and have four battle fleets, each built around a dozen WMG baseships, plus supply ships and a few fighter bays to chase down stragglers.
I've spent the last 30+ turns (and four hours) blitzing the remaining alien empires. Attached screener shows the disparity in the empires at this point. I'm getting VERY bored with this...
My question is this: is there any point to completely finishing a game? Pretty end credits? Name up in lights? Anything at all?

I dont know if i'll ever know. i'm just haven fun with playen. And trying new mods playing with ideas hoping the next game will have some harder challenges. But mostly i'm lovin designing new weapons and strategies for facing my ever changing foes. Long live the imagination!
Edit: I know that when i reach that strength^^ in comparison to my enemies in any game, i start getting a little bored.
Omnipatence was only cool in GTA

I've finished one just to see what happens.
I wasn't expecting much, and wasn't disappointed.
I usually just quit when I get distracted or have no real rivals left.

Surely the Phong would surrender at this point?

If you want better games, then
- don't play stock but BM
- play against max. enemies with full bonusses and teaming them up against you
If you survive that, play PBW and see how you do against humans
BTW: if you're in it for end credits, then you'll be sorely disappointed. Just start a game with your empire and no others and you'll see them after 1st turn.

Well, you can set win conditions so you only have to Mostly Win.

I am playing BM and this was a team AI w/max bonuses (but not max #s).
I am going to play one more game against AI to learn the differences with simultaneous turns/no tac. combat. Then it's on to PBW.

Something I forgot: select a galaxy type that doesn't disadvantage the AI's. If you pick one with a lot of nebula's and black holes, then the AI will definitely be a push-over due to a lack of expansion.

Manual combat makes a huge difference, especially against planets...

OMG does it ever. The tactical combat AI is HORRIBLE. I am having to completely re-learn ship design and fleet strategies.
