It seems that experience needs some tweaking. It is very hard to get the higher levels, and there are several components that depend on experience (and that become somewhat useless due to current experience system).

My suggestion is based on current experience levels, adding one "extra" (NooB level) for just created/unmothballed ships.

- level 0: NooB (0-19 experience points): Just created/unmothballed ships need some time to get in shape. In addition, this extra level makes Stupifier more useful.
-Bonus: -2 to hit, - 1 to evasion.

- level 1: Recruit (20-999 experience points)
-Bonus: 0

- level 2: Trained (1000-1999 experience points):
-Bonus: +2 to hit, + 1 to evasion.

- level 3: Regular (2000-3999 experience points):
-Bonus: +4 to hit, + 2 to evasion.

- level 4: Seasoned (4000-6999 experience points):
-Bonus: +6 to hit, + 3 to evasion.

- level 5: Veteran (7000-10999 experience points):
-Bonus: +9 to hit, + 4 to evasion.

- level 6: Crack (11000-15999 experience points):
-Bonus: +12 to hit, + 6 to evasion.

- level 7: Elite (17000-22999 experience points):
-Bonus: +15 to hit, + 9 to evasion.

- level 8: Legendary (23000+ experience points):
-Bonus: +20 to hit, + 12 to evasion.

You could have "untrained" instead of "noob" Razz

There is a fine line between Genius and Insanity. I am firmly on one side of that line!

These are the values I was thinking of using:

Fleet Experience:

Legendary       75000  10   5


I've bumped up the rates at which experience is gained. Typically a ship can gain 20 points of experience for every 100kT of enemy ship destroyed. A fleet will gain at half that rate. A fleet of 10 ships should in theory reach each level at the same rate as its individual ships.

Remember ship and fleet experience stacks. It's capped at 20% for offense which I think is quite generous considering the typical -5% per 10km range in combat.

Hm... does stupifier kill both fleet and ship XP for the target?

I would assume it removes all experience modifiers. It would be even cooler though it subtracted the experience modifiers instead. A legendary crew would become legendarily stupid. Razz

It's about 10-20 turns for a typical training facility to impart a Veteran level experience on a ship or fleet.
