hey how are you people? just trying this SEIV game, have a few question:
1. is there any mod that have same purpose with SEV Balance mod? i mean some improvement, but not alter too much stock gameplay.
2. when i choose some name on ship using predefined name (example: hawaii), sometimes it says "the name already used" or something like that. I'm sure no one of my ship already used that name.
3. after clicking on "save empire button" the game will ask "do you wish to save your design with your empire" with yes / no button, when i clicking "no" button its keep proceeding to save empire window. i think the correct one is it should close the menu window.
the question for 2 & 3 is: do you guys experience this too?

1. SE4 is not as horribly unbalanced as SE5, so that's not so necessary, but there is the TDM mod which improves the AI...
2. Perhaps another empire used that name?
3. You can save your empire WITHOUT saving the designs - that's what it's asking, I think... yes means save both, no means just save empire.

The Expanded Mod is basically the stock game with more ship sizes. The DevNull Mod is about 90% the same as the standard game (caveat: I haven't played the most recent version, which may be more different from stock).
The TDM AI's are a lot meaner than the ones that come with the stock game. I can crush the stock AI's in short order without much thought, but I have to actually work to beat the TDM AI's.

The SE IV 2009 Mod is essentially stock, using newer pics, and with an improved AI that researchs all fields (unlike stock). DevNull is considerably different to stock, it uses many more asteroids and asteroid fields, CSM (capital ship missiles) are half the size of stock (25kt instead of 50kt) has additional weapons also. Its a good Mod too!
Ai's will blow up stars, in SE IV 2009, Skywalker and probably many other Mods. Best to try as many as possible and find one you like

Thanks for the mod suggestion guys, right now i'm trying Fyron's Quadrant mod (make system more realistic without changing base game). i installed TDM and Devnull mod too, but not interested yet to play it with depth ( still enjoying stock AI now )
And ekolis thank you for makes thing clearer, now i know what that "yes / no" window purpose that appear after "save empire" ( i was think its a minor bug, which is actually not ).

DevNull Mod is a lot like stock when compared to (say) Adamant or Carrier Battles. I was able to play and win DevNull without too much trouble after only playing stock. It does have smaller missiles (hence more missiles), more PD options, and some additional weapons. It's also possible the most recent version is different; I haven't played it yet.
If you want the most stock-like experience, play the Expanded Mod. It's exactly like stock with a few more ship sizes (plus you start with fighters, which is my favorite thing about the mod). Expanded Mod includes some of the elements of the FQM and TDM mods.
Make sure you can crush the standard AI's before you take on the TDM AI's. They're a lot meaner!

just one more question..
is Fyron's Quadrant Mod Deluxe 2.10 Full last graphic pack MOD for SE IV?
and one more.. in DEVNULL mod there is one comment wich says
| Quote: |
Good Mod like original SE4. Best feature - space monster race. (but undeveloped, has no troop, fighter, ect. and has no brain: they give me their ONLY planet for couple technologies (may be a bug in AI)) |
is this true?
