Here's whats in 4.26. I'm still completing the AI files for the improved propulsion changes and I'm still not sure what to do with missile weapons either.

v4.26
Changed description for Stablization Mounts incorrectly said 50% cost. Should be 75%.
Increased Industry tech to lv3.
-increase speed/range of all missiles?
Changed Chemical Rockets to 5 Standard Move.
Change Particle Emission Engines to 6 Standard Move.
Changed Atomic Power engins to 8 Standard Move.
Changed all ships sizes to max engines = 25% of hull size using 15 kt engines.
Changed Advanced Concept Engines to match.
Increased Chemical Rockets Supply Storage from 1000 to 2000.
Decreased Atomic engines Supply Storage from 2000 to 1000.
Fixed Cosmic Standing Stones IV and V both had same tech requirements.
-adjust AI files for new engine/speed requirements.
Added cargo storage ability to supply storage components (zero value).
Increased External Cargo Storage structure to 10 kt.
Changed reduction amount of all shell mounts drasticly.
-AI trade planets too easy.
Increased all small engines to 2 standard move.
Increased supply storage of Small Chemical Rockets, Small Boosters to 100.
No issue found: check upgrade/abilities of Advanced Resupply Base I-III
Reduced kt size of Chemical Rockets to 15 kt from 25.
Reduced size of all Atomic Power engines to 15 kt.
Reduced size of all Advanced Concepts engines to 25 kt from 50.

Excellent, looking forward to it. Two things I did notice, which are no big deal, is that in Pictures/Game/Dialogues you have a superfluous Thumbs.db file, and does SE IV not care if you use dialogues or dialogs?

The "Thumbs.db" is a file Windows XP sticks into a folder, whether you want it two or not. It's more than likely not something Bearclaw put there as it is something left there by his OS.

Yes I am well aware of that, I just thought I'd let him know. Besides you can disable XP from doing this; Tools>Folder Options>click View>check Do not cache thumbnails.

I've never noticed an issue with the Dialouges folder at all. But thanks for the heads up. Always wondered how to disable those thumbs files.

I like to manually delete them after I set up my zip files. But now that I know how to turn the little SOB's off, I will do that. Smile

Just make sure you run a full search for these files on your system once you disable them, the ones already created will have to be deleted manually. I think you may need to enable show hidden files.

I think the changes made to the propulsion system is spot on, have you figured out the missiles system yet?

Sort of.
What I'm doing is giving all missiles a +25% boost to range, speed and dmg resistance. I'm also concidering upping their ECM value but not just yet. Their damages will be the same, just faster, tougher and longer reaching.

So far, the stats look pretty good. I'll be testing them before I'm actually done though.

It's done!
I think. Still have some to do some testing of it. Here's the fix list:

Increased range of all missiles by 25%.
Increased dmg resistance of all missiles by 25%

Fixed Cosmic Standing Stones IV and V both had same tech requirements.
Added cargo storage ability to supply storage components (zero value).
Increased External Cargo Storage structure to 10 kt.
Changed reduction amount of all shell mounts drasticly.
Increased AI trade amount required by x2.
Increased all small engines to 2 standard move.

I believe I found a bug:

Cargo Compartment I holds 33kt of cargo, and takes up 5kt of space.

However,

Cargo Space I holds 8kt of cargo, and takes up 1kt of space.

Cargo Compartment I's cargo should be increased to 40kt.

Alpha Wave Inhibitors have some inlogical reload rate: 10-15-15-10 for levels I-II-III-IV accordingly. Question

And. Advanced Resupply System. Number of abilities 3 instead 6. Is fixed?

oh, I forgot all about the resupply bases!! Thanks. And thanks for the other bugs too, I'll be fixing those today.

If anyone wants to test this before I release it here and on PBW, let me know and I can send you the data files.

Slight addition to the fix list:

Fixed Alpha Wave Inhibitors reload rates to 10.
Fixed Advanced Resupply bases should have 6 abilities not 3.
Fixed Cargo Compartment I = 33kt cargo space. Should be 40 kt.
Changed cargo/supply storage amounts to make bigger options more efficent. (but only slightly).

I love you're thoughts on improving missiles, and I can't wait to get my hands on this version.

If you want to test it, email me and I'll send you a zip of just the data files.

One other thing with Advanced Resupply Bases that I'm not sure I was clear about:

I think the following entries should also be modified:

Advanced Supply System I -
Roman Numeral := 4

Advanced Supply System II -
Roman Numeral := 5

Advanced Supply System III -
Roman Numeral := 6

In hightech start AI designed colony ships without colony module Confused

And

Here I will rise with some suggestions concerning the area of little use in SE4: Drone design.

Drones and Scout have nearly same size and should use similar technology in design. So I propose expand some mount to be usable by drones.
At least:
Light mount;
Scout mount;
Scout shield mount;
Small Ship engine mount.

And some component:
Harmonic Shielding I-II-III
Quantum Reactor (Solar panel already used)

Is this 4.26? thought I fixed that High tech start AI issue...

Good points on the Drone ideas. Easy enough to add.

bosakm: the roman numerals were left intentionally I wanted the game to display them Resupply Base I-III and Advanced Resupply Base I-III. Unless I'm mistaken (and I'm sure someone will correct me if I am) for upgrading purposes, SEIV looks at the facility Family number and tech requirements only.

I was experiencing a problem where the Advance Supply System's were not appear on the upgrade list until I changed those to be 4-6 respectively.

I was taking a guess after reading the following at the top of the facilities.txt file:

Roman Numeral:
Numeric representation of the facilities level in relation to its family.

Also, every time I resumed the game, planets that previously had them built, reverted back to Resupply Base III. After I changed it in the file, resumed games kept previously constructed facilities.

Well, I guess that cinches it. I'm changing that right now.
Thanks.

Another update to the fix list:

Added Drones to Light mount.
Added Drones to Normal mount (AI).
Added Drones to Scout mount.
Added Drones to Scout shield mount.
Added Drones to Small Ship engine mount.
Added Drones to Harmonic Shielding I-II-III
Changed Roman numerals for Advanced Supply Depot. (upgrading issue)
-reduce costs of shells.
-add more levels of each shell.

As you can see from the last 2 entries, Shells are getting some adjustments. I've already changed the shell mounts to make them better. Now I'm going to add 2 more levels of each shell. They should become much more of a viable component now.

I hope you test the Advanced Supply System change. Don't take my word for it. That was the first time I actually changed any of the text files; so it might not be correct for how you intended.

On a separate note: I know you must constantly get this; but any guess on when the patch will be ready & available? I'm really looking forward to the missile changes (along with everything else).

Thanks for a GREAT mod.

Yes. Once I add the extra shell levels then I'll be doing some tests. Are you interested in testing it?
