in typing up this ive come up with what i believe to be a decent idea, mainly comes from your ship sizes smaller than frigate. why not scrap the whole drones thing itself, and create a component thats essentially a mini master computer, but limit it too just smaller ships?
i quite like the idea and was thinking in using it in a mod of my own, then remembered it'll be a long time before i do anything major like that so i'm just gonna post it as an open idea on spaceempires.net's forum and see what happens from there ^_^
so yeah i was reading the overview of the new SE5 Darknova mod and had this thought when i re-read the new smaller ship sizes and was thinking of how drones are essentially the same size as a small ship.
what i was thinking is create or restructure the drone computer and limit it to a certain size of ship.. if thats even possible.. (i will really have to get around to checking out what is and isnt available to components)
once the control units sorted scrap the drone and use a ship hull, would probably be cheaper.
mind you this would probably be a waste for me as i hate drones thanks to se4, tho ive not seen a single one in any of my se5 games >_< Grand Lord Exelsiar of the Azra-Dun Commonwealth, at your service

I'm just starting out on doing some modding myself. But it should be a simple matter of altering the VehicleUnitTypes.txt file. You can create a small ships and a large ships category. Then just propagate the new data and you should be good to go. Back to top
