Is there any way to get rid of the explosions of gunshots , missles and shiphits(not ship exploding)?
I rather like to see the models and weaponfire instead of billions of little fireballs.

yes, in the bitmap effects data file (space combat) there will be a list of effects, just have to find each instance of what ever weapons you want to not show any effects.

You can also change each component in the component data file where it says weapon display type and just leave it blank ( I think you can leave it blank, if not create a display effect that does nothing and rename all the weapon effects to the new effect)

i set the width and height of the explosions (bitmap effects data file (space combat)) to zero and it worked pretty well.
