Yes, generally an autocannon is a cannon which fires automatically (go figure) Generally they just look like a cannon cause their feed mechanism and all that is usually housed in a turret.

Well, I bought it and have played it a little. I am slightly disappointed that it seems to all take place in one solar system, but I still like it. I think that a bit of modding could fix it up.
